Would you pay for doggy daycare in the Savannah area?

doggy
Erin M asked:

I am thinking about opening a doggy daycare/boarding place in the Savannah, GA area and was wondering if anyone in the area would be interested in having their dogs attend if I did. I was also wondering if you would be willing to bring your dog(s) what you think a fair price would be.
Thanks!

  • ? Jazzie ?:

I travel to that area on business 1-2 times per year. I insist on traveling with my fav fur companion, Jazz.

I would be willing to drop her off at a doggie day care if we were doing some activity where she couldn’t participate. What’s it worth to me? I’m a penny pincher… $20/day max.

  • ?Hello Sunshine?:

The likelihood of finding Savannah residents here, and an adequate number of them, is kind of slim!

You should do some market research in your area… write up some simple surveys and administer them at pet stores, boutiques, and other places, with the permission of management or owners.

Look for similar concepts that may already exist in your area. Check your yellow pages, call around to trainers and pet stores and find out if anyone is offering these services. Visit existing doggy daycares as a `prospective client` to find out about going rates, facilities, etc.

Make sure you talk to your insurance company, too… also check with your city hall to see where you can get a business license for this type of operation.

    Good luck!

~ To give some comparison we do overnight pet sitting for select clientele. We charge $15.00/night and additional dogs/same client is $5.00 more. We have a good acquaintance that has a doggy day care and boarding, there is no kennels just lots of big rooms, super nice and she charges $25.00 for doggy daycare up to 12 hours and $35.00 for overnight dogs. She has been doing it for about 6 years and in the last 3 really established herself and the business. At first it was not very successful and her prices where much less. It really helps you have vets, shelters and pet stores recommending you like she does.

    We are in Florida.
