If you prefer a bouncy, energetic small dog over a calm, lap dog, a yorkie may be a good choice for you.  Yorkie puppy care is no different than shih tzu puppy care or other types of puppy care.  Yorkies need food, attention, water, and a lot of grooming.Because yorkies have long coats, they require more grooming than those of other toy breeds.

They tend to expend more energy than they have so it’s important to provide a constant supply of water since dehydration can happen very quickly.  It is also important to be careful that their blood sugar doesn’t get too low.  You can prevent that by giving them a little bit of sweet water or syrup.  If that doesn’t do the trick, you should take them to the vet. Generally problems with low blood sugar subside after the puppy reaches 12 weeks of age. 
Yorkies need to be groomed daily because of their long coats.If you don’t brush their coats they will get matted.In yorkie puppy care it is important to never brush a dry coat.Always spray their coat with a little bit of water and conditioner prior to brushing.Brushing will keep yorkie puppies clean but yorkie male puppies need to be washed with a damp cloth daily on the side of the body where they urinate.

In yorkie puppy care it is important to feed the food recommended by the breeder for the first two weeks.Yorkie puppies should eat two to three times per day.After the first two weeks you can start mixing the recommended food with premium dry food.  It’s important to feed your puppy premium food otherwise he can have digestive problems.
In conclusion, yorkie puppy care is not much different from other kinds of puppy care.  Your new yorkie will require a lot of love, maintenance and attention but within a few weeks you will surely fall into a comfortable routine.  It might seem like a lot of work at first but once you find your rhythm, your yorkie will be like just any other member of your family.

Your Puppy’s First Night Home

Puppies are creatures of routine so when you first take them home they are going to whine a lot until they feel a connection with you and their surroundings.  Never punish your puppy for whining but also realize that if you constantly attend to your puppy and hold him when he cries, he is going to use crying as a way to get your attention in the future.  In new puppy care it is important to have a crate ready so your puppy has a comfortable place to sleep. 
Your puppy may cry a lot the first few nights home so it is up to you to let your puppy sleep in his crate in your room or put him in a separate room with food and water.Some owners may let their puppies sleep in their beds with them but you do have to realize that it will become a habit hard to break.If you do decide to let your puppy sleep with you, make sure you are comfortable with it happening until your puppy is an adult dog.  If you want to make the first night more comfortable in new puppy care, take a cloth or soft toy that your puppy had when it was with his mother and the rest of the litter and put it in his crate.

How to Protect Your New Puppy Care

In new puppy care, it is important to provide a crate or exercise pen where you puppy is safe to explore and play under minimal supervision during the day.  Make sure to leave the crate in an area of the house where you will be so your puppy can see what goes on around him every day.  Provide some chewing toys because like human babies, puppies will put anything into their mouths and chew.Don’t leave any unsafe items out that your puppy could choke on and don’t leave any electrical cords exposed. 
New puppy care may feel overwhelming at first but if you take precautions and make the right preparations, you will get into a routine that fits you in no time.  Don’t stress out about your new responsibility.Instead, enjoy life with your new bundle of joy and take the steps necessary in the first few weeks of your puppy’s life so that the rest becomes a breeze.
