Dogs will attempt to get praise and affection from you by performing each of the behaviors it remembers eliciting a good response from you.  Unfortunately if all a dog hears is “NO” and sees you rushing at him, he’s also going to learn that these bad actions also get your attention.

To teach your dog that a certain behavior is not acceptable, turn around with your arms folded. The dogs feel the worst form of punishment from not getting attention, so they realize bad behavior is not worth it.
